In order to skipper Sea Essay, whether charter, sea time or in another capacity, you need to be a CSSA approved skipper. To become an Approved Skipper a member must possess an RYA Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence as a Yachtmaster Coastal, Yachtmaster Offshore or Yachtmaster Ocean. You must also hold a valid First Aid Certificate. In addition, applicants will need to submit the contact details for two CSSA Approved Skippers at equivalent or higher standard than that applied for, with whom they have sailed and who have agreed to act as referees.
There is now an opportunity for those with RYA Coastal Skipper to be assessed to Skipper Sea Essay within the Solent. You must additionally have a current RYA First Aid certificate and YM Shorebased.
